Danish quintet Gny revive and rejuvenate ancient sounds of the Nordic folk, music of the north lands and in particular Danish folksongs. Much of this material has been preserved since the Renaissance but the roots of the music stretch back to the Middle Ages Vikings era. Using reconstructed authentic medieval instruments Gny recapture the spirit of traditional music of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and perhaps following successions of Danish settlers, Eastern and Northern England during the 9th and 10th Centuries.
Gny brings new life to the oldest known Nordic music: the folkmusic and not least the Danish folksongs.
With melodies and rhythms from the old North Gny brings forth pictures and feelings from ancient times – when ravens, trolls and murder were still part of normal life in Scandinavia.
